Bathurst 2024 Announcement

October 19, 2023 smadin 0 Comments

Dear Mini Racers,We are Super excited to announce that SuperMini Challenge Inc. has a confirmed grid spot at the Bathurst 6hr as an official support category for 2024. The Bathurst 6hr endurance event will be held over the Easter weekend in 2024 on the 29 th – 31st March. Here is a link for the event: https://bathurst6hour.com.auThe Bathurst 6hr presents a unique opportunity to experience one of the world’s most famous race tracks, but it is not without its challenges. To drive this event will require a decent amount of preparation for both yourself and your car, and driving the race track will also present challenges. Make no mistake, Bathurst is a scary and daunting race track to drive, but it will be one of your life’s most memorable experiences, and very few people get to experience it.To be eligible to enter this event you must have a BMW Mini, either an R53, R56 or an F56 mini. The 6hr is a Motorsport Australia event and the cars will need to be log booked with Motorsport Australia as well as all drivers participating holding a national circuit license. This means if you have a circuit provisional license currently, you will have needed to complete at least three Motorsport Australia Rice events prior to March 2024 (in the last 2 years) to be able to compete in this event. You will need to apply to Motorsport Australia to have your provisional circuit rating removed. Below is the link to the forms on the Motorsport Australia website. https://motorsport.org.au/docs/default-source/licence-forms/2023/23motorsport-australia_licence-upgrade.pdf?sfvrsn=2bf4c105_9If you have any intention of competing at this event and would like to discuss how you can remove your provisional circuit license endorsement, or any other information that you might require about the event, please contact either Trent Spencer on 0412 152 085 or Jim Campbell on 0422 507 946 or email us at admin@SuperMini.au.SuperMini Challenge Inc. has organised accommodation at the Panorama Hotel in Bathurst for that weekend. Many families are travelling and joining us at the event. We intend to have some other activities other than just racing for spectators (the girls), such as winery tours, spas, etc. Many of the teams are bringing their entire family, so it should be a fantastic holiday as well as a great racing experience. If you wish to stay at the Panorama Hotel in Bathurst, we suggest you contact them as soon as possible. They have 70 rooms there but are booking out very quickly, and if you wish to stay with the group, I would suggest getting in touch ASAP. https://panoramabathurst.com.auThe Bathurst 6hr is run by the ARG. To participate at this event, SuperMini Challenge Inc. will purchase the grid and will be required to make undertakings to the ARG to supply garaging for all competitors, and to agree to the conditions placed on ARG by the circuit management. Entry fees for the event will be $3000. For everyone attending a deposit of $1,500 will be due by 20 th November, with the balance of $1,500 due 20th January.  We have not had confirmation of garage prices as yet but we expect it to be between $500-$700. Additionally, we are not allowed to bring our own fuel to the circuit as it will be controlled by the race organisers and RaceFuels is the nominated supplier for the event. If you require special fuel for your vehicle such as E85 or high-octane unleaded please get in contact with us ASAP so that we can discuss this with ARG and ensure that RaceFuels have the appropriate fuel for your vehicle.Power St Racing is looking into options for car transportation. If you need assistance getting your vehicle to Bathurst please contact Jim directly. We will be circulating regular updates regarding the Bathurst event and continue to keep you updated with any developments or information that we receive from ARG. This race will not be held under the SuperMini Challenge Inc. rules, per se, but will be a standalone event with its own rules that will be based on the SuperMini Challenge Rules. We will endeavour to publish a set of draft rules for the event within the next month. Do not let this dissuade you in any way from joining, however, as there will be a category for every BMW mini to participate as long as it is Motorsport Australia log booked. There are a limited number of hire vehicles available for the event through Power Street Racing. Please contact Jim Campbell if you are interested in hiring a SuperMini for the Bathurst support races.SuperMini Challenge is seeking sponsorship for the event and would welcome any sponsorship opportunities that you may be aware of. If you are aware of anyone interested in sponsoring this event, could you get in touch with us and we will follow them up directly. Finally, please pass this invitation to as many of your friends and Mini Mates as you consider would be interested in this event. For those who have already expressed their interest in attending, your deposit invoices will be going out over the next few days. It’s fun, come and play.Best Regards,Trent Spencer
