Phillip Island Circuit
The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is home to some of the world’s leading motorsport events, including the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix and the Superbike World Championship, along with a range of national series.
Motor racing on Phillip Island began in 1928, when local roads were closed for racing events. In 1952, a group of local enthusiasts purchased the current site and formed the Phillip Island Auto Racing Club (PIARC). After four years of development, the first event was held in December 1956.
Over the decades, the circuit has hosted a variety of major events, including the Armstrong 500 from 1960 to 1962, which later moved to Mount Panorama and became the iconic Bathurst 1000.
Australia’s first International Motorcycle Grand Prix was held at Phillip Island in 1989, won by local legend Wayne Gardner. The Superbike World Championship followed in 1990.
In 2004, the Linfox Property Group acquired the circuit and has since invested significantly to develop it into a world-class venue.
Today, the circuit hosts a range of public events and is regularly used for drive and ride days, testing, club sprints and media launches.
Located in the heart of Australia’s premier motorsport destination is the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit Visitor Centre and Go Karts, offering activities including single and tandem go karts, guided circuit tours, a motorsport history display, slot cars and race simulators.
The 750 metre replica Phillip Island Go Kart track is positioned alongside the main circuit, overlooking Bass Strait, and caters to group bookings of all sizes.
